Work background

I have over thirty years of experience as a qualified professional. Over these years I have worked with many different people from a variety of backgrounds, ages, cultures, societies, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions and disabilities who have faced many different problems and challenges. This experience informs my understanding of the uniqueness of each individual, the role of relationships in wellbeing, and also informs my understanding of the broad range of factors that can impact on and influence us.

My working life has included working in Adult Psychological Therapies, Older Adult Psychological Services, Neuropsychology, Mental Health Liaison, Child and Family Services and a charitable organisation providing therapy for couples. I worked for twenty two years in the NHS during which time I held Consultant Psychologist posts and led services, including as Head of a Psychology Service. I call myself a Consultant Psychologist based on assessment by a British Psychological Society National Assessor to be at the level and standard of a Consultant Psychologist.

As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained to work with a wide range of mental health diagnoses and psychological difficulties across the spectrum of complexity using a variety of psychological assessments and interventions. In addition to this, the Counselling Psychology qualification involved three years of specialist training in psychological therapy. This included learning to work in an integrative way using more than one therapeutic modality. The Clinical Neuropsychology qualification means that I have been trained to assess and work with people with neurological disorders, such as head injuries, stroke, dementia. Since qualifying I have focused on further specialist training, in particular EMDR and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

I now specialise in working with adults from all backgrounds, providing individual and couples therapy.

Location

Although my private practice is in Hertfordshire and London, I now mainly work online as many of my clients come from areas outside of Hertfordshire and London.
